YYC Best Eats - UNA Pizza & Wine Restaurant Review Calgary AB

Dining out in Calgary :)

OHH I am stuffed! What a delicious meal I had last night at one of YYC's best restaurants : UNA Pizza and Wine. (Follow them on Twitter!)
UNA Pizza and Wine on Urbanspoon

We are so lucky to have such a cool little place in our city. It is uber-chic but pokes fun at itself at the same time. Especially when they have jokes about hipsters on the chalk board, and a Harry Potter audiobook playing in the bathroom instead of music! It is a causal dining restaurant, but makes you feel like you are a VIP once you actually get inside! Usual wait times are about 2-2.5 hours on a Saturday night. This restaurant is always packed! They don't accept reservations, so you put yourself on a waiting list and they call your cell phone when your table is ready. Believe me when I say, it is most definitely WORTH the wait!!

The wait was not a big deal for us because we went to my friend's house nearby for some wine to pass the time! I couldn't think of a better way! :)

When our table was ready (only took 45 mins this time) we ordered some more New Zealand Pinot Noir to go with the glass we had before we got there.. always a great choice!

Then it's time for some appys! The first appetizer we got was a prosciutto-wrapped date (not pictured), and these unreal meatballs in tomato sauce. It was perfect that both appys came in 3s! There just happened to be three of us :) OUUU those meatballs in itself would have been a meal.. but then....

The pizza came!! MMMM......... the top pizza is the "4-maggi" which is topped with provolone piccante, friulano flor di latte mozzarella, pecorino romano and TRUFFLE honey. It tasted like Garlic Fingers (for those fellow east-coasters that know what that is), but taken to a gourmet level. OMG. Delicious. The pizza below is the one we can't go without.. the "tiki". What an amazing combination: double smoked bacon, shaved pineapple, tomato sauce, smoked mozza and jalepeno oil. Add a little splash of the chili oil we requested, and you have the most delicious meal we could ask for! Perfect for sharing:)
Always a good time!
Kaleigh and I in Foodie Heaven! Shot-out to Kales for the excellent foodie photography skills!
To top it all off, a Peanut Butter and Chocolate Terrine, topped with house made marshmallow and roasted peanuts. It doesn't get much better than this people!! Give me peanut butter anything and I'm a happy gal.
Also wanted to mention, none of us felt overly full and gross after eating all of that (if you can believe it!). You can tell everything is made with REAL ingredients. They offer gluten free crust on all their pizzas as well. All in all, excellent night!

Thank you Una :) I'll be back very soon.
